Hakeem Olajuwon is a Nigerian-American former professional basketball player. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to the United States at age 17 to play college basketball for the University of Houston. After two successful seasons with the Houston Cougars, Olajuwon was drafted by the Houston Rockets first overall in the 1984 NBA draft. He went on to have a Hall of Fame career with the Rockets, winning back-to-back NBA Championships in 1994 and 1995 while being named the Finals MVP both times. Olajuwon is also a member of the “Dream Team”, which won gold at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Throughout his 18-year NBA career, Olajuwon was one of the league’s most dominant players. He was named an All-Star 12 times and was voted to the All-NBA First Team six times. He was also named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year twice and led the league in blocks three times. Tim Duncan is a retired professional basketball player who spent his entire 19-year career with the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is widely considered to be one of the greatest power forwards of all time and was a two-time NBA MVP and a three-time NBA Finals MVP.
Duncan was born in Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, and raised in the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. He played college basketball for Wake Forest University, where he was named ACC Player of the Year in 1997 and 1999.
