MGM has released the first official trailer for Air, a movie helmed by Ben Affleck that explores the partnership between Michael Jordan and Nike.
Sonny Vaccaro, a marketing executive who played a major role in creating the iconic Air Jordan brand, which took the world by storm, will be the focus of the film. For more information about the film, watch the trailer below.
The Air Trailer: Matt Damon is determined to reunite Michael Jordan and Nike
The trailer shows Matt Damon as Sonny Vaccaro dreaming big as he wants to take basketball legend (then a rising NBA star) Michael Jordan on board for a Nike campaign. In the footage, Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight, who listened to Vaccaro’s idea behind closed doors.
By the end of the trailer, Vaccaro suggests the name ‘Air Jordan’ for the new shoe line to Knight, and he responds hilariously.
The film will be released on Amazon Prime Video a few months later, unlike previous theatrical releases, which were streaming within a few weeks. Watch the exciting trailer below.
It will focus on the deal that made Nike a global brand
According to the official synopsis for Air, “AIR reveals the amazing partnership between a rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division that revolutionized sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand, directed by award-winning director Ben Affleck.”

The film will also feature Jason Bateman as Rob Strasser, Chris Messina as David Falk, Marlon Wayans as George Raveling, Chris Tucker as Howard White, Viola Davis as Deloris Jordan, Matthew Maher as Peter Moore, Tom Papa as Stu Inman, Julius Tennon as James R. Jordan Sr., and Joel Gretsch as John O’Neil, in addition to Affleck and Damon.
Affleck, Damon, David Ellison, Jason Michael Berman, Jeff Robinov, and Peter Guber produce the film along with Horst Dassler, Kathy Dassler, and Katrina Sainz. After School Ties (1992), Good Will Hunting (1997), Dogma (1999), Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back (2000), Jay & Silent Bob Reboot (2019), and The Last Duel (2021), Air marks Affleck and Damon’s seventh collaboration. It is, however, the first time Affleck has directed Damon, his best friend and collaborator.
